“TACCHI VENTURI” ART GALLERY

Dedicated to Father Tacchi Venturi, a San Severino-born Jesuit and religious studies scholar, the City Art Gallery houses works dating between the 14th and 18th centuries. Among these are polyptychs by Paolo Veneziano (1300 – 1365), Vittore Crivelli (1440 – 1502) and Niccolò Alunno (1430 -1502 ca); masterpieces by Lorenzo and Jacopo Salimbeni (1400s – 1500s),paintings by Lorenzo d’Alessandro (1462 – 1503), as well as a 13th century “Deposition of Christ” (“Cristo deposto”), an “Our Lady of Peace” (“Madonna della Pace”) by Pinturicchio (1454 – 1513 ca) and an “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” (“Madonna del Soccorso”) by Bernardino di Mariotto.

The palace currently housing the City Art Gallery was donated to the city by Father Tacchi Venturi’s heirs.

The combined ticket includes the entrance to the Feronia Theatre, the “G. Moretti” Archaeological Museum, the “Tacchi Venturi” Art Gallery and the “Borgo Conce” Museums.
